Take National Highway No. 5 to enter Yilan, or take the Bei-Yi Highway or the Keelung Coastal Highway to enter Yilan, then take the Suhua Highway (Highway No. 9) in Su'ao → via Hualien, Ji'an, Shoufeng, Fenglin, Yuli, Fuli, Chihshang → Taitung, about 5 hours by car.
From Taichung
Drive south on National Highway No. 3→under the Nanzhou interchange→south on Highway No. 1→Fangliao→Fenggang→Nanlu Highway→Taitung, about 6 hours by car.
From Kaohsiung
Southern Taiwan Line 1 south→Pingguo Highway→Fenggang→Nanlu Highway→Taitung, about 3.5 hours by car
